C-STORE
The DICOM network service that sends an image from one system to another.
C-STORE is the DICOM “push” operation: one node sends an instance to another, for example a modality or workstation sending a study to a PACS. It is one of the DIMSE services defined in PS3.7 and is used by the Storage Service Class in PS3.4.
Before any image is sent, the two nodes open an association. They identify each other by AE Title and agree on presentation contexts: which SOP Classes may be sent and in which transfer syntax. Each instance then goes as one C-STORE request, and the receiver answers with a status code:
0000: success.B000–B007: stored with a warning, for example after the receiver coerced some values.0122: refused, the SOP Class is not supported.A7xx: refused, the receiver is out of resources.A9xxandCxxx: error, the data set does not match the SOP Class or cannot be understood.
A wrong AE Title or a transfer syntax the receiver does not accept is the usual reason a C-STORE fails before it starts.
