Move study between patients

Reassign a study filed under the wrong patient to the correct one.

Problem

A study was incorrectly linked to the wrong patient — Patient ID and Patient Name fields are wrong, making the study appear under a different patient in the Files tree. You need to correct the patient-level identifiers so the study groups with the right patient’s other studies.

Steps

1. Open the file (⌘O) and switch to Edit mode (⌘3).

2. Edit Patient ID (0010,0020) — double-click, enter the correct MRN, and save.

3. Edit Patient Name (0010,0010) — double-click, enter the correct name in PN format, and save.

4. Edit Patient Birth Date (0010,0030) — correct if needed.

5. Reload or verify in Files tab — the study’s patient grouping updates. If you load multiple studies, those with matching Patient IDs now group under the same patient folder.

Expected Result

• Patient ID and Patient Name display corrected values with gold highlighting.
• In the Files tree, studies with matching Patient ID values group together.
• The study is now correctly associated with the intended patient for PACS queries, hanging protocols, and prior comparison.
