Restructuring

Move series between studies

Move a whole series from one study into another.

Problem

A series was assigned to the wrong study — e.g. a patient’s prior CT was accidentally linked to a new study instead of being properly referenced. You need to move the entire series from one study to another.

Steps

  1. Open the files (⌘O) and switch to the Files tab.

  2. Drag and drop — grab the series row (.anon-rule) and drag it onto the target study header. The series moves from the source study to the target study.

  3. Alternatively, click the scissors button to split the series into its own study, then use the Merge dropdown on the target study to absorb it.

  4. Verify — the target study header now contains the moved series. The source study header may disappear if it had only one series.

Expected Result

  • The series is relocated under the target study header.
  • The moved series receives a new Series Instance UID if the target study has a different Study Instance UID (referential integrity).
  • Frame of Reference UID is regenerated on the moved instances.
  • Drag-and-drop and merge/split are functionally equivalent paths to the same result.
