SeriesNumber reorder
Renumber series so they sort in the intended clinical order.
Problem
The scanner numbered series out of clinical order — the pre-contrast series is numbered 3 and the post-contrast is numbered 2. Radiologists expect series to display in logical order (scout, pre-contrast, post-contrast, delayed). You need to renumber the series so they sort correctly in the PACS viewer.
Steps
-
Open the file (⌘O) and switch to Edit mode (⌘3).
-
Filter for Series Number (0020,0011) and double-click to edit.
-
Enter the new number — e.g.
45. The IS VR enforces integer values only:10.5(decimal) → rejected: “Must be a whole number (no decimals)”SeriesOne(text) → rejected: “Must be a number”
-
Click Save change.
-
Repeat for each series that needs renumbering. Ensure no two series in the same study end up with the same Series Number.
Expected Result
- Series Number displays the corrected integer with gold highlighting.
- Decimal and alphabetic values are rejected with validation errors.
- Series appear in numeric order in the Files tree panel.
