Oblique MPR planes
Rotate the MPR planes about the crosshair point to cut an oblique plane.
Browser: available nowmacOS app: 1.4.0 or newer
An oblique plane follows a structure that does not line up with the scanner axes, such as a tilted vessel, a disc space or a long bone.
Steps
- Open a multi-slice series (⌘O) and switch to 3D MPR.
- In one plane, drag the round handle near the end of a crosshair line. The other two planes rotate about the crosshair point, and each rotated plane shows Oblique on its header.
- Use a MIP, MinIP or Average projection as usual. It applies to the rotated planes along their new direction.
- Select Reset to orthogonal on a rotated plane’s header to turn all three planes back to axial, sagittal and coronal. The crosshair point stays where it was. See Reset to orthogonal.
Limits
- Curved reformats along a drawn path are not available yet.
- An oblique plane has no slice number and is not exported as an image. Reset to orthogonal first.
Result
Planes cut at the angle of the structure, with the crosshair point and slab projection kept.
